DUE TropForest ITT - Ref. AO6408
2010-07-27
The Invitations To Tender (ITT) on the DUE TropForest, Ref. AO6408 has been published on EMITS with a closing date of 15 Sept 2010.
The European Space Agency (ESA) hereby invites all interested companies from DUE participating countries to submit a tender for the DUE TropForest procurement. If companies are not yet registered as an ESA bidder, they are invited to obtain access to EMITS by completing a questionnaire, which can be found at the indicated URL below, section Registration Request.

The Tiltle of the TropForest ITT is "TropForest Geo-Database Production" and is referenced AO6408 in the ESA Electronic Mailing Invitation to Tender System (EMITS).

The overarching objective of the TropForest project is to create an harmonized geo-database of ready-to-use satellite imagery to support the 2010 global forest assessment performed by the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission (as part of the JRC ACTION 3 - TREES) and by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) (as part of the United Nations UN-REDD action done jointly by UNEP-UNDP-FAO).
Assessments for year 2010 are essential for building realistic deforestation benchmark rates at global to regional levels, and will be scientifically crucial for the next IPCCC assessment report but also important as global reference level in the framework of the UN-REDD mechanism.

The TropForest project of the European Space Agency aims at addressing these needs by first creating an harmonized orthorectified/pre-processed imagery geo-database based on satellite data acquisitions (ALOS AVNIR-2, DMC DEIMOS-1, KOMPSAT-2 MSC) performed during the years 2009 and 2010, for the Tropical Latin America (excluding Mexico) and for Tropical South and Southeast Asia (excluding China), resulting in 1,971 sites located at 1deg x1 deg geographical lat/long intersections.

Closing date has been fixed on the 15 September 2010.
