CNR-ISAC RM GOS

The Earth Observation division of ISAC-Rome is in charge of the acquisition and analysis of data from space, from a variety of in situ platforms and from ground based stations. Goal of the assessments and interpretations of the data is the observation and study of processes in the Earth atmosphere and oceans.

Within the Earth Observation division, the Satellite Oceanography Group covers the following main research topics:

• Heat and mass exchange at the air-sea interface and their influence on Mediterranean circulation;
• Mediterranean mesoscale dynamics characteristics and their influence on oceanic biological productivity;
• Atmospheric aerosol deposition at sea and related effects on ocean biological productivity;
• Relationships between surface parameters and vertical structure of the ocean;
• Mediterranean climatology from integrated satellite data;
• Air-sea interaction in polar regions;
• Operational oceanography;
• Development of regional ocean colour algorithms;
• In situ validation of SST and ocean colour satellite products.
