MICROWAT: Call for Proposal is now open for competitive tender

The Invitation To Tender (ITT) on the STSE, MICROWAT, Ref. AO 1-6203 in the ESA Invitations to Tender, was issued 27 Nov 2009 with a closing date of 15 Jan 2010.
The European Space Agency (ESA) hereby invites all interested companies from all eligible STSE participating countries to submit a tender for the MICROWAT procurement. If companies are not yet registered as an ESA bidder, they are invited to obtain access to EMITS by completing a questionnaire, which can be found at the indicated URL below.
The aim of this project is to explore different options and define an optimal mission concept that will provide through cloud SST and contemporaneous measurements of OVW at high resolution (5-15km) over the global ocean including coastal and ice infested areas. The MICROWAT mission will improve ocean-atmosphere heat, gas and momentum fluxes, estimates of ocean circulation and ocean forcing, atmospheric circulation estimates, marine boundary layer wind speed estimates, assist in the interpretation of SST uncertainty estimates and interpretation of SST. The MICROWAT project addresses directly all of the ESA Living Plant Program ocean challenges but most notably, Challenge 2: Understand the physical and bio-chemical air-sea interaction processes.
